DISCOVER LOCAL LIFE BY STROLLING THROUGH THE VILLAGE
Visit Cassis Old Town
The village is quite small, you can easily explore its main points of interest in just one morning. There’s no need to follow a strict itinerary, simply wandering through the colorful streets will make you discover the essentials. Still, here are a few must-see spots when visiting old Cassis : Rue du Jeune Anacharsis, Rue Michel Arnaud, Avenue Victor Hugo, Rue Adolphe Thiers, Place Baragnon and its fountain, Saint-Michel Church… And of course, the famous Cassis harbor, the lively heart of the village !
You’ll probably notice it during your walk : the Cassis castle overlooking the village. It is actually a former fortified town, now privately owned. However, it is possible to spend a night there by booking one of its high-end guest rooms.

Taste Provençal flavors
There’s nothing better than experiencing local flavors at a traditional market. Don’t miss the weekly market held every Wednesday and Friday morning on Place Baragnon. Olives, fougasse, cheeses, lavender honey, fresh seasonal fruits and vegetables… classic Provençal specialties to discover or rediscover, a delight for both the eyes and the taste buds. If you’re an early riser, the fish market on the harbor is also a must-see.

There are many other markets in Cassis, depending on the season, daytime or evening. Here are two we recommend :
- the summer night market : a must for strolling on warm evenings and discovering beautiful handmade creations (July 1st to August 31st, Baragnon place and Georges Clémenceau place)
- the farmers’ market featuring regional producers : every saturday morning on Clémenceau place
Enjoy the lively atmosphere of Cassis Harbor
Walking along the harbor and enjoying a drink in front of the colorful fishing boats is a true tradition when visiting Cassis ! The harbor is not very large, but it offers a unique atmosphere, especially from midday until evening. It’s a perfect blend of lively local energy and Mediterranean douceur de vivre, with sun-drenched terraces.

As for the many bars and restaurants lining the harbor, you’ll be spoiled for choice! However, as in any tourist destination, we recommend checking reviews before choosing where to sit down. After your meal, there’s nothing better than a digestive stroll along the beautiful Promenade Aristide Briand and its seaside lighthouse.

– Other ideas of what to do in Cassis –
If you are staying for two days or more and wondering what to do in Cassis, why not visit the small museum of arts and traditions in the town center? You can also explore the Cassis soap workshop, or discover the Camargo Foundation, an artist residency set in an exceptional location just steps away from Bestouan beach.
ENJOY THE BEACHES DURING YOUR TWO DAYS IN CASSIS
Bestouan beach

This is our favorite beach in Cassis. Located just a 10-minute walk from the old town, this pebble beach offers an exceptional view of Cap Canaille and its majestic cliffs. The water is stunning, with beautiful blue-green shades, and you can also settle on the rocks at either end of the beach. It’s perfect for snorkeling lovers.
👉 Good to know :
- Lifeguard supervision during high season
- Bars & restaurants
- Paid parking
- Public restrooms nearby
Grande Mer beach

This is the most popular beach in Cassis, likely because it is located just steps from the village and is quite large. A mix of sand and small pebbles, its turquoise water is simply mesmerizing. It offers all amenities and is ideal for families. However, be careful with children as the water gets deep quite quickly.
👉 Good to know :
- 3-minute walk from the harbor
- Paid parking (Savon parking)
- Paid showers and restrooms
- Bars & restaurants
- Lifeguard supervision in season
- Pedal boats, kayaking, and windsurfing rentals
Arène beach

This is the wildest beach, with a unique charm surrounded by pine trees and the Soubeyranes cliffs. It is the furthest from the harbor, which means it is generally less crowded than other beaches. Large rocks at the entrance of the cove also make access slightly more challenging, and it can sometimes be difficult to settle or walk into the water. However, it’s perfect for those seeking nature and tranquility.
👉 Good to know :
- Small nearby parking area (limited spaces) or Madie parking
- No lifeguard supervision
Corton cove

This is a small, somewhat hidden pebble beach, though slightly less authentic than Bestouan Beach. A concrete platform in the water and surrounding rocks leave limited space to settle. However, it’s perfect if you enjoy jumping into the water, and you’ll have a beautiful view of Cap Canaille !
👉 Good to know :
- 15-minute walk from the harbor
- Paid parking (Madie) + stairs down to the beach
- Restrooms, private beach, food options
- No lifeguard supervision
